Colobridge Products & Services Leveraged:
Background
Zed-Pay is an international fintech corporation specializing in digital payments, neobanking, and cryptocurrency solutions. The company, registered in the UK with a representative office in Turkey, provides services to 195 countries worldwide, offering cross-border payments for both the SMB segment and large enterprises.

For fintech companies, a stable IT infrastructure is more than just a technical requirement; it’s a critical driver of client trust. It ensures transaction continuity, data protection, regulatory compliance, and rapid scalability to keep pace with a growing customer base.

Without a robust IT infrastructure, guaranteeing instant payments, secure digital asset storage, or stable operations during peak loads is simply impossible.

Before partnering with Colobridge, Zed-Pay’s IT landscape was quite complex. The company’s servers were geographically dispersed, with some capacity hosted on AWS and others with hosting providers in France and Vietnam.

The Challenge

Our previous IT infrastructure was highly fragmented,” recalls Denis Donskikh, Head of Ukraine Operations at Zed-Pay. “This dispersion of resources created numerous problems. For instance, it significantly complicated control and overall administration. Furthermore, we encountered security issues and outdated technologies.

These challenges were instrumental in shaping the core objectives of the future project, as well as defining the requirements for the prospective platform and technological partner.

Objectives

Zed-Pay aimed to transition to centralized resource management on a unified, reliable, and fault-tolerant platform, while also addressing several other crucial objectives:

ensure stable, predictable, and uninterrupted service operation;

gain convenient tools for centralized management and complete control over IT resources;

optimize infrastructure maintenance costs;

find a partner with a high level of expertise and experience in similar projects;

access responsive technical support that genuinely solves problems, rather than just logging tickets.

To achieve these objectives, Zed-Pay began searching for a technological partner with a proven track record. Among the contenders was the Ukrainian-German company Colobridge, which stood out for the stability of its services, high level of service, and a responsible approach.

Following an analysis of their previous collaborations, Colobridge emerged as the ideal solution for Zed-Pay, meeting all key parameters: reliability, security, and quality technical support. “We compared several options, but Colobridge proved to be the most balanced solution,” states Kirill Gnelenko, Senior DevOps Engineer at Zed-Pay Ukraine.

Implementation

We came to Colobridge with a general project vision but lacked clear technical specifics,” explains Kirill Gnelenko. “Their team helped us choose the optimal hardware configuration for our needs, provided expert advice, and fully supported the entire process of migration, setup, and go-live.

Given our positive past experience, a test period wasn’t necessary. So, immediately after discussing the details and finalizing the project plan, the migration commenced, taking approximately three weeks.

The primary challenge was to meticulously consolidate Zed-Pay fragmented infrastructure into a single, cohesive unit without causing any downtime for our mission-critical fintech services. Zed-Pay own IT specialists handled most of the workload transfer to the Dedicated Servers, with the Colobridge technical team providing consultation on demand. Colobridge also assisted with the final launch phase: installing the operating system and configuring the VMware ESXi virtualization system, which Zed-Pay now directly manages.

After the migration, the Zed-Pay team got exactly the infrastructure we had envisioned,” notes Kirill Gnelenko. “Among the many positives, I’d highlight the clear communication and rapid technical support. By consolidating several computing environments into one, Colobridge specialists helped us effectively build an IT infrastructure from the ground up. It now adheres to modern standards and incorporates the best practices for security, availability, and manageability.

Even during the operational phase, technical nuances related to virtualization administration arose, once again requiring the active involvement of Colobridge’s support staff. This included assisting with comprehensive server maintenance without downtime, which was crucial for our fintech services. The vendor’s experts also provided valuable recommendations for building a cluster using Shared Storage (BSaaS) to further enhance the fault tolerance of Zed-Pay IT infrastructure.

Glossary

Dedicated Servers — these are physical servers entirely leased to a single client. The client gets exclusive access to all of the server’s hardware resources — like the processor, memory, disk, and network channel — ensuring maximum performance and security. Dedicated servers provide complete control over the software environment and hardware configuration.

BaaS (Backup as a Service) — this is an automated cloud service for creating, storing, and restoring IT infrastructure backups. Data from a client’s servers, workstations, or applications are automatically copied and securely stored on the service provider’s remote infrastructure. Companies no longer need to buy, set up, or maintain their own backup hardware and software. Instead, copies of their important data are reliably stored off-site and can be recovered after outages, accidental deletion, or disasters.

Results

The key benefit of migrating to the Colobridge platform was a significant boost in infrastructure stability and the uninterrupted operation of all IT services. Consolidating all resources onto a single platform allowed Zed-Pay to save time on administration, react more quickly to incidents, and focus on developing their core fintech products. Zed-Pay’s IT team gained complete control over all computing resources and can manage them centrally – which is far more convenient than having servers scattered across various providers.

Thanks to the well-structured IT infrastructure built on Colobridge’s powerful systems and ongoing optimization, Zed-Pay successfully reduced risks of failure and improved system availability. Zed-Pay services now easily withstand peak loads without glitches – this is especially critical for clients during periods of high activity, such as weekends or new feature releases. This newfound stability has become the bedrock for the continued expansion of their fintech products into international markets.

We’re delighted with our partnership with Colobridge: their expert approach to solving our challenge, the stability of our services, and the prompt response from their technical support
